Cannot get the list schema column property from the SharePoint List

Cannot get the list schema column property from the SharePoint List

You will get this popup alert (error message) when you try to export list to a spreadsheet (owssvr.iqy) when the column of a "Date and Time" feild is corrupted. The only fix I have found is to covert the "Date and Time" field to a "Single line of text" then back to a "Date and Time" field. Microsoft, please fix this.

I’ve had this problem too. I think it was because the SharePoint site was created with MOSS 2007 beta. Try opening that xls file with Excel 2007 and it should work OK.

One other work around is create a duplicate column for those date/time columns and copy all the data over. That worked for me as well.

Changing the date and time feilds into a single line and then back to a data and time field fixed the problem. Thanks for the input.

Creating another column and copy/pasting the values worked here as well, thanks. I read somewhere that changing the column names might cause this problem also, but can’t test now since I deleted the old columns.

Thanks for this workaround! It is very helpful to have this resourse here.

Great solution if you're not using the time field--if your column is date AND time DO NOT USE this solution becuase you will loose the time data when you try and revert back.

im having the same problem here. Does changing the date field to a single line of text and then revert back the type loses the data? Do i have to do this change everytime i need to export to a spreadsheet?

I believe you lose the time. Test it out on another list.

@clumsy: I believe you lose the time field, not the date. I have not had this issue in a long time. Test on a dummy list.

Whoa, that's odd. Try changing them back to Date/Time fields now.

I have two computers - desktop and laptop --

all of the sudden today, on my desktop, I click on export to spreadsheet and absolutely nothing happens.

    No error message, no nothing.

It worked yesterday and it is will working today on my laptop.

    Why is that???

Sounds like you have not installed a ActiveX object for IE.
